At least 10 people were injured in a clash between the activists of ruling Awami League and supporters of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) at Bheramara upazila yesterday. Police quoting local people said the clash erupted when a group of JSD activists locally known as Eagle Bahani swooped on Tutul, a Juba League activist of Bheramara upazila unit, while he was sitting at a shop at Farakpur north level crossing of the district town at about 2:30 pm. The owner of the shop Siraj and his son Mostaque came under attack while they were trying to save Tutul. The clash left 10 people injured. Of the injured, condition of three persons stated to be serious and they were admitted to Bheramara health complex.
Hearing hue and cry local people rushed to the spot and chased them. The angry mob gave them a good beating. The agitating people vandalised a motorbike of the attackers.
Later, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Additional police has been deployed at key points of the upazila.
