Ariful Haque drew all with his sublime finishing stint along with medium pace bowling in the last Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the performance that gave him an opportunity to step into the national team.

It’s not that he called up from the national team only for his BPL performance but his performance at domestic circuit for the last few years was up to the scrape.

The pace all-rounder already played two T20 international at home turf against Sri Lanka. He was in the Tigers squad in the last Nidahas Cup Trophy but he didn’t get chance to play owing to the team combination.

This time he is honing his batting skills and techniques along with his bowling variation keeping the track of the Dehradun which Bangladesh will play three-T20 series against Afghanistan.

“I’m working on my batting besides bowling side,” said Ariful Haque yesterday.

“But I’m giving more times on my bowling where in I’m trying on slower and other variations at team’s and individual practice sessions,” Haque told reporters in front of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Mirpur.

The 25-year-old all-rounder said that his childhood dream came true so he is now working by planning to be success in the international cricket.

“Since childhood my expectation was to play for the national team. Now I want to play not only as a batsman but also an all-rounder for the national team. I’m preparing myself in that vein,” Rangpur-born Ariful said.

“May be it will be needed for some more times. International cricket is not similar to domestic cricket. There is a gulf difference between these two circuit games. I’ve some plan which I am following it. The whole thing will depend on my success,” he thought.

Due to team’s combination, the sublime finisher did not get chance to play any match in the last away tournament but he expects keeping the surface of the Dehrandu, the team management could pick him to play and for this he took his own preparation.

“The team management played more batsmen and spinner in the last Nidahas Cup Trophy tournament. For this I didn’t get to play,” he said.

“But so far as I know, the wickets in Dehradun will be grassy tracks what are good for batsmen. In that sense, if the team management thinks to pick me for the need of the team, I’ll then try to give my best for the team,” he continued.
