‘Zero tolerance to river sharks’

UNB

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan yesterday said the government will show zero tolerance to river encroachers and polluters like militants and drug traders, reports UNB.

"The government in no way will spare those involved in encroaching and polluting rivers," he told a discussion.

Nongar, an environmental organisation working on protecting rivers, arranged the programme on board a ship, Sandhani, in the Buriganga River in the capital.

At the discussion, Nongar demanded the government declare May 23 as the national 'Maritime Security Day'.
