Eid vacation begins at SUST Sunday

SYLHET: The Eid vacation at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) will begin on Sunday.

No classes will be held and residential halls will remain closed during the vacation, said a press release signed by SUST registrar Ishfaqul Hossain.

All academic and administrative activities will resume on June 24.

JU 43rd batch celebrates 4th anniversary

SAVAR: The 43rd batch of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Sunday celebrated their 4th anniversary on the campus amid enthusiasm and  festivity.

Marking the anniversary, students of the 43rd batch has taken up two-day  programmes on the campus.  JU Vice Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam inaugurated the anniversary  programme by cutting cakes as the chief guest at the Central Shahid Minar  premises at 11 am.  Addressing the inaugural session, Professor Farzana Islam said, “It is  very important for a student to join work place after completing academic  studies. Outgoing students will have to be honest and skilled in their work  place. Thus, they will be able to serve the nation”. Later, led by JU VC, a colorful rally was brought out from the Shahid  Minar premises that paraded different streets on the campus.

Meanwhile, the students of 43rd batch conducted a campus cleaning drive about at 1 pm. Over 200 students of 43rd batch took part at the campus cleaning drive.

The two day programmes feature an inaugural session, rally, campus  cleaning drive, fanush festival, cultural events and mega concert at the  Selim Al Deen muktamancha.

JnU holds 2nd recital festival  

On the occasion of the 11th founding anniversary of Jagannath University Abriti Sangsad (JnUAS), the second recitation festival was held in the central auditorium of the university on Tuesday. Prof M Selim Bhuiyan, Acting Vice-Chancellor who is also the Treasurer of JnU, was present on that program as the chief guest. Abdul Kuddus, President of Combined Cultural Association, announced the inaugural of the ceremony.

Chaired by Lubayani Rani, managing director of JnUAS, the introductory speech was delivered by JnUAS president Navidul Hassan. Poetry recitation, music and dance performances that create a festive atmosphere were held in that day-long festival.
