Nasim asks doctors to discharge duties with utmost sincerity

BSS

RAJSHAHI: Health and Family Welfare Minister Muhammad Nasim yesterday urged the doctors and others concerned to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for ensuring proper healthcare services to the patients in general, reports BSS. He said: “I want to see your work. You will take forward the nation through proper services. I believe whole-heartedly that you will be positive in performing your professional duties”. The minister was sharing views with the officials of local administration and doctors of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in its conference hall.
Muhammad Nasim said the doctors need to change their attitude for going to the rural areas to provide healthcare services to the people instead of staying in the capital or other big cities through lobbying and grouping. Former mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, BMA local unit president Dr Shahidur Rahman Tarafder and its general secretary Dr Khalilur Rahman and Vice-principal of Rajshahi Medical College Dr Nawshad Ali, among others, were present at the meeting.
RMCH Director Brig Gen Rafiqul Islam informed the minister about the present state of affairs of the hospital and Nasim assured of all possible cooperation to solve the existing problems on priority basis.
“I’m very much positive towards fulfilling the emergency needs on priority basis. All the logical requirements will be fulfilled in phases,” he said assuring that required funds would be allocated for further improvement of the RMCH.
As suggested by the RMCH doctors and other officials at the meeting, the health minister said number of seats in the Intensive Care Unit would be raised side by side with launching the function of burn unit in the hospital immediately. He, however, sounded a strong warning against corruption and irregularities in the hospital and urged all concerned to remain alert against such malpractices. “Stern action will be taken against those who will be found guilty in corruption and irregularity as zero tolerance will be shown in this regard”. Responding to a query the minister said the issue of upgrading the RMC into a full-fledged medical university is now under the special consideration of the government. He mentioned that the medical education has to be more time-befitting for the sake of creating quality physicians. The students and doctors could not acquire proper knowledge until adequate teachers and modern instruments are ensured. Later, the minister visited different sections of the hospital.
