Memo submitted demanding uplift of greater Khulna

BSS

Greater Khulna Development Action Coordination Committee (GKDACC) here yesterday submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through the Deputy Commissioner of Khulna to press home their five-point demands, reports BSS from Khulna. GKDACC hopes that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will fulfill their demands during her visit to Khulna on September 6. The demands include supply of natural gas to Khulna through pipeline, formation of the Sundarban Development Board, a master plan at least for 50 years for greater economic development of the south-western region of the country including Khulna after construction of Padma bridge, upgrading of Bhomra land port into international standard and establishment of a medical university and an IT park in Khulna. The GKDACC leaders also urged the government to take all possible measures to save resources of the Sundarbans from grip of looters, poachers, robbers and a section of officials and employees serving the forest department. They also praised the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for implementing Sheikh Abu Naser Hospital and International Stadium, Khanjahan Ali Bridge and modernisation of Mongla Port.
