Pro-AL lawyers win bar council polls

The ruling Awami League-backed lawyers have scored a landslide victory over the BNP-Jamaat-backed lawyers' panel in the Bangladesh Bar Council elections. The election results were announced yesterday.
The AL-backed Sammilita Ainjibi Samannoy Parishad (SASP) bagged 11 out of 14 posts of the lawyers’ regulatory body, while the BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad (JAOP) secured three posts in the elections, according to the official announcement by Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, the ex-officio chairman of the Bar Council.
