RANGPUR: Language movement hero and freedom fighter Shah Md Abdur Razzaque died of old age complications at his Mahiganj residence here Sunday night at the age 90, reports BSS. He left behind three sons, one daughter, a host of relatives and admirers, fellow freedom fighters and politicians and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Razzaque, also a former lawmaker of Awami League (AL), was a front line language movement activist and took also part in the War of Liberation in 1971. He was former president of Rangpur district unit of Awami League.
He was elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly in 1970 and member of the parliament from Rangpur-4 (Kawnia-Pirgachha) constituency in 1973 and 1986. He was also a headmaster of Afanullah High School in Mahiganj.
The body of Razzaque was brought to Mahiganj Glass Factory ground this morning where his first namaj-e-janaza was held at 11 am. His second janaza was held at Mahiganj Jam-e-Mosque ground here yesterday noon.
