Police foiled a procession of students and detained 13 while heading towards the Prime Minister’s Office to submit a memorandum seeking extension of the age limit for entry into government jobs to 35 years from 30. At least five of the protesters sustained injuries as police charged batons to disperse them. The injured protesters were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. A group of over 500 students from different colleges and universities gathered in front of the National Museum at Shahbag in the capital on Saturday morning demanding to extend entry age for government service at 35 years. Job seekers now have to enter government service at 30 years Police official said they foiled the procession and detained 13 students as they were going to the prime minister’s office blocking roads, causing immense suffering for people.

Police barred them at Bangla Motor when they headed for the PMO in procession to submit the memorandum around noon. Several demonstrators’ alleged that police attacked their peaceful demonstration and detained around 25.
