BARISAL BOAT CAPSIZE

Six bodies recovered

Bodies of at least six people, who went missing after a boat carrying devotees capsized in the Kirtankhola River in Barisal on Wednesday, were recovered from Charmonai Launchghat area yesterday. The deceased are Shahab Ali, 28, Zakir Hossain, 30, Iftekhar, 9, son of Abdul Malek of Gazipur, Badshah Dhali, 65, of Munshiganj, Delwar Hossain, 28, of Mymensing, and Abdul Kuddus, 22, of Laxmipur district, confirmed Officer-in-Charge of Barisal River Port Police Station Belal Hossain. Eight more people remain missing since the accident.  
The bodies, which have started decomposing, have been kept at the Charmonai Mahfil ground for identification and following proceedings, he added.
Police suspect the trawler, carrying 45 devotees from Charbaria area of Barisal city, capsized after being hit by another trawler from behind on Wednesday noon.
