5 DU students get Nujhat Jahangir Memorial Scholarship

Five students of different departments under the Faculty of Social Science of Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday were awarded 'Nujhat Jahangir Memorial Scholarship' for their outstanding academic excellence.

DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed the scholarships among the students as the chief guest at a programme held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.

The award receptionists are - Mahir A Rahman and Tahia Anan Dhira of  Department of Economics, Eshra Faruky of Department of Sociology and Nushrat Jahan and Ummey Fariha of Department of Anthropology. They have secured the highest Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) in Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) examinations held in 2016.  Prof Akhtaruzzaman congratulated the awardees and thanked the donor of the trust fund. He urged the students to equip themselves with the humanitarian values to make Bangladesh a peaceful country.

PUST gets new VC

Prof M Rostom Ali has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) for four years.

He was a former Professor of the Department of Applied chemistry and engineering of Rajshahi University. Ministry of education has issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday.  He took the responsibility as the fourth Vice-Chancellor for the university.

Prof M Rostom Ali joined the university as a replacement of the former Vice-Chancellor Prof Al-Nakib Chowdhury. Prof Al-Nakib Chowdhury has completed his full four year of employment on last January 1, 2018. PUST was running without VC for almost 2 months.

Marketing Carnival begins at JU

SAVAR: A four-day 'Marketing Carnival-2018' began at the Marketing department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Thursday for the first time.

JU Vice Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam inaugurated the carnival as the chief guest by cutting a cake and releasing balloons at the Business Studies faculty at 11 am.

The four-day carnivals are featured as rally, inaugural session, inter-department cricket and badminton tournament, and cultural event. The carnival will end on March 11.
