The comprehensive plan Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) took for the opening ceremony of the final round of the first-ever Bangladesh Youth Games to make it attractive and successful has completed.
With the participation of the 2,660 athletes, the curtain of the third and final round of the biggest sporting carnival for the country’s youth athletes will raise with an eye-catching ceremony on Saturday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the chief patron of the Games, will inaugurate the week-long Games at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS), the main venue of the event.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, chairman of media and publicity sub-committee and vice-president of BOA, revealed all to media at a press conference at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium of the BOA yesterday.
Bashir said that they have finished the first district round and second divisional round successfully. Hopefully they could also complete the final round.
With the participation of the 27196, the highest-ever number of athletes, the first phase was held across the country in late December 2017. Then the divisional second phase was organized with 6708 athletes held at eight divisions from January 8-13. Bashir was accompanied with BOA secretary general Syed Shahed Reza, its deputy secretary generals Ashiqur Rahman Miku and Asaduzzaman Kahinoor on the occasion.
On the other hand, the performers and artistes of the opening ceremony held their dress rehearsal amid the tough security of the Bangladesh Army at BNS. A big stage has been made at the centre of the BNS. A 31-feet-long replica of Padma Bridge has been built up in the west side of the stage and a 40-feet-long boat, the symbol of Bangladesh Awami League, has also been made in the east side of the stage.
It is learnt from the practicing artistes that the opening ceremony has been decorated with a jaw-dropping and attractive programme including laser show, cultural programme along with eye-catching fireworks.
But it’s learnt from the organisers that the opening ceremony will be held splitting into two parts. Before the arrival of the chief guest, with the local artists a cultural programme will be held, where country’s tradition and its glorious liberation war history alongside DJ show and AV display will be showed.
But after the chief guest arrival, the two-hour-long programme will be formally started with the national anthem.
Then the AV display with the participants, guests speech, the formal announcement of the Games by the Premier, Lighting the torch by shooter Asif Hossain Khan, rendering the theme song, parade of mascot, stage performance, display and Laser show. The programme will be ended with pyro and fireworks.
