‘Morshokam’ from Bangladesh to be staged in Kolkata today

‘Morshokam’, a play by popular Bangladeshi theatre troupe Theatre Art Unit, will be staged today at 6:30pm (local time) at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Center in Kolkata, India. The play will be brought to the stage as a part of the ongoing 8th edition of Theatre Olympics, one of the biggest international theatre festivals in the world. Hosted by India’s National School of Drama, the festival is currently underway in India.

Written by Mahin Eka, the play—which is the 19th production of the troupe— has been directed by Rokeya Rafiq Baby. The play has already become a subject of the discussion as the writer and director are the mother and daughter.

The play has been written based on the foreign policy of the most powerful superpower in the current political scene of the world. This is the foreign policy that by which the political future of all the repressed countries has been controlled since decades. It is not that no revolution or protest has been taking place against this foreign policy. Rather, the protest is underway and it will be continued in the future. But the conspiracy theory of this policy devours all discourses of the revolution.

Earlier on March 5, the play was staged in the same event at Kamani Auditorium in Delhi, India.

To note, Beginning from February 17, the Theatre Olympics will run till April 8 in major cities of the India.
