Ferdous Ara interested to act in film on Nazrul

Ferdous Ara interested to act in film on Nazrul

Eminent Nazrul Sangeet singer Ferdous Ara has been receiving proposals repeatedly for acting on both small and big screens since the beginning of her career in music. But she never showed up in the arena of acting.

Back in 1973-74, late director Azmal Huda Mithu proposed Ferdous Ara to be a heroine after watching her in a programme on Bangladesh Television. But the family of Ferdous Ara refused the proposal cordially as they had not really thought about Ferdous Ara’s entry into acting at that age. Moreover, the singer received a proposal for playing one of the lead roles in ‘Surjo Dighal Bari’. Even she also got the proposal for acting in the Indian films. But she never thought of other things except singing.

However, Ferdous Ara has changed her mind after coming across the long way in her career. She has now expressed her desire to act in the films, but not in tele-dramas. All she wants it has to be a film based on the life of Rebel Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Ferdous Ara said, “If any film on Nazrul would be made and if I would be given a chance to play an important role there, then I will be interested to act in that film. I don’t know whether my desire will be fulfilled or not. But what I think if I really get a chance of acting in a film about Nazrul’s life, my soul will rest in peace.”

Ferdous Ara was introduced as an artiste of Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television in 1973. Her first album featuring 12 songs came from Sargam in 1985, while her very next album ‘Akasher Miti Miti Tara’ helped her to gain popularity. She released a number of albums till now, including ‘Shaon-A-Rathe’ (Nazrul songs), ‘Tumi Ashley Jey Ki Bhalo Lagey’ (Nazrul and modern songs) and ‘Tumi Ki Dokhina Pobon’.
