Marking the International Women’s Day (March 8), a weeklong art exhibition ‘Madhobilata’ featuring the art works of hundred women artists has been arranged at the National Art Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital.
BSA and the University of Development Alternative (UODA) have jointly organised the exhibition with participants of current as well as former female students of the university’s Fine Arts Department.
Speaker of the Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will inaugurate the exhibition as the chief guest today at 5pm, while state minister for Women and Children’s Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki and former secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Suraiya Begum will be present as special guests.
Presided over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, Founder and President of UODA Professor Mujib Khan and Chair of the UODA Fine Arts Department Professor Shahjahan Ahmed Bikash will speak at the opening ceremony. Associate Professor Kaniz Sohani Islam, senior faculty of the UODA Fine Arts Dept will be providing the vital women’s perspective.
To disclose the information about the exhibition, a press conference was held at the National Art Plaza Auditorium of BSA, where 50 participation artists of UODA were present along with the organisers.
The exhibition will remain open to all every day from 10am to 8pm, while 3pm to 8pm on Friday.
