Shakib to leave for Australia via SL on Thursday

Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is all set to get an advanced treatment for his injured little finger in Australia. If everything is okay, he will start journey for Australia from Sri Lanka on Thursday, a day when Bangladesh will play their first match in the Nidahas Trophy against India.

Shakib however will leave for Sri Lanka today. Australian physician Dr. Bred High will look after his injury. The expenditure  regarding Shakib’s treatment is expected to be 10 lakh BDT.

If the appointment is found, Shakib will meet doctor on March 9, said BCB chief physician Dr. Devashis Chowdhury.

“We’ll try to take the appointment of the doctor in between. Hopefully Shakib can meet him on March 9,” he said.

Shakib injured his little finger during the tri-nation ODI tournament in Bangladesh after which he missed the Test and T20 series against Sri Lanka. He was expected to be fit before the Nidahas trophy but an advanced treatment in Thailand showed he required physiotherapy in his injured place.

However the BCB decided of not risking his injured finger further and rested him from the Nidahas Trophy Tri-nation T20 series which will mark Sri Lanka’s 70th year of Independence.
