Vietnam urged to import jute, jute goods from Bangladesh

Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon yesterday urged Vietnam to give preference to imports of jute and jute goods from Bangladesh during the signing of bilateral trade deals and memorandum of understandings between Bangladesh and Vietnam, reports BSS.

The workers party leader made this appeal when a three-member delegation of the party called on visiting Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang at Hotel Sonargaon yesterday afternoon.

During the discussion, the Vietnamese President expressed his gratitude to the people of Bangladesh for lending their massive support during the Liberation War of Vietnam.

Menon, also Social Welfare Minister, said Vietnam is the first South-east Asian country who had recognized Bangladesh as an independent state.

The other delegation members -- Comrade Dr Susanta Das and Comrade Kamrul Ahsan-- were present.
