World Science Congress chief meets DU VC

Chairman of World Science Congress, India Prof Col Dr Ranajit Sen called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman at the latter's office on Sunday. Dr Ranajit was accompanied by Anil Kumar Kunar, General Secretary of Santiniketan Trust, and Mohammed Arif Iqbal, Chief Coordinator of Taranga of California. Dr Mohammad Ismail, Assistant Professor of DU Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, was present on this occasion. During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of forming a new association titled ‘Dhaka-Kolkata Moitri Samity’ to strengthen cultural exchange programmes between the two countries. The possibility of holding an international science conference at DU this year under the joint auspices of the university and World Science Congress, India was also discussed at the meeting.

Seminar on career held at IU

Kushtia: The Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia held at a daylong seminar titled ‘Career Adda’ at Birshreshtha Hamidur Rahman central auditorium of the university yetserday. Durbar Bangladesh and Swapner Baksho Foundation jointly organised the event around 10am on the campus. The University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof M Shahinoor Rahamn was present here as the chief guest while Proctor Prof Mhabubor Rahman attained here as the special guest.  Ayman Sadiq, founder of 10 Minute School, was present there as the motivational speaker while Mahmud Hassan Rony, president of Durbar Bangladesh in the chair.  Over thousand teachers and students were present the programme.

Shadow UN confce concludes at RU

A four-day model United Nations (UN) international conference titled ‘Combating Inhumanity: Prolonging Global Peace’ concluded on the Rajshahi University (RU) campus yesterday evening, said a press release. RU Model United Nations (RUMUN) organized the conference for the 3rd time at Shaheed Sukhranjan Sammadder Teachers-Students Cultural Centre (TSCC). Earlier on March 1 former high commissioner to United Kingdom of Bangladesh and also former vice-chancellor of RU Prof Sayedur Rahman inaugurated the conference. In the four-day conference, 300 students from 45 educational institutions form both home and abroad participated in conference. Besides, six committees have been formed with participants including three from India and twice from Nepal in the closing day. Each committee has been assigned an agenda. The agendas are--UN Security Council, World Trade Organisation, and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UN Environment Program, Chemical Weapons Disarmament Organization and International Media.
