Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI) penalised 11 shops about Taka 1.57 lakh in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions in February this year for selling and manufacturing adulterated food items, reports BSS. Mobile courts of the BSTI Rajshahi regional office in association with local administration conducted drives at different parts of Rajshahi and Rangpur regions and found selling of substandard food items, violating the rules and regulations.
The courts also realised Taka 1.57 lakh from the shop owners during the drives conducted in nine districts under Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions. BSTI director (Rajshahi) Altab Hossain said the regional office has conducted its drives against the shops involved in manufacturing substandard and adulterated food items. Such drives will continue in the future, he said.
