A court in Dhaka on Monday sent BNP assistant office secretary Monir Hossain to jail as he surrendered before it in six violence cases, reports UNB. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sorafuzzaman Ansari passed the order rejecting the bail petitions filed by Monir, his lawyer Sanaullah Miah said. Miah said all the six cases were filed with Ramna Police Station in connection with political violence. In a statement, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir protested Monir's jailing in 'false, fabricated and politically motived' cases. Having failed to run the country on all fronts, he said the government is pushing the country towards a grave uncertainty with its 'fascist' attitude. Fakhrul alleged that the government is turning the entire country into a jail by continuously arresting BNP leaders and activists ignoring their democratic rights. He demanded the government release Monir immediately withdrawing the cases filed against him.
