NSC gives BNS a new look ahead of Youth Games

Aiming to stage a colourful opening and closing ceremony of the Bangladesh Youth Games, the renovation and the beautification works have been going on in full swing in and around Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS).

This time Bangabandhu National Stadium is getting a new look.

The Bangladesh Youth Games, first ever in the country which was started with huge programmes involving the whole country with the preliminary phase took place at different district and divisional level across the country, the curtain of the final stage the will be raised in Dhaka with a grand opening ceremony on March 10 with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the Games as chief guest.

However, Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) who is organising the sports carnival, with the help of the Bangladesh Army is giving a new look to Bangabandhu National Stadium with renovating the different area including the gallery, VIP gallery and press box.

Under the supervision of Army men , 800 damaged chairs in the VIP lounge and more than a thousand of the galleries have been replacing, the surroundings inside the stadium are decorating with different colours inside the gallery.

BOA took over the BNS from the NSC on February 25 for preparing the venue to stage the Youth Games with a befitting manner and from then they began the renovation works and give the area as an attractive site.

Inside the stadium there will be four big screen LED Television as two giant screen have already been set up there. After completing all the renovation works and decoration, BNS will turn into a new look ‘Bangbandhu Stadium’.

Meanwhile, BOA are getting ready to organise the mega sports show when they have already prepared to receive and arranged the accommodations of 2660 athletes and officials from across the country who will compete in 21 disciplines.  

The torch of the Games will be alighted in all eight divisional headquarters before the Games open in Dhaka. Bangladesh international famed shooter Asif Hossain Khan, who won a gold medal in 10-metre air rifle event in Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002, will light torch in Dhaka during the opening ceremony.
