Stocks close week down

Stocks closed the week down yesterday with falling trends of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges as the daily transactions declined amid volatility in large-cap securities, reports BSS.

During the week, the daily average trade value declined by 0.3 per cent to Tk 373.59 crore and the average trade volume fell by 15.6 per cent to 8.60 crore shares.

The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 36.15 points down at 5,870.83. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 1.29 points down at 2,168.97 and with

3.07 points down at 1,372.45 respectively.

Out of the 338 issues traded on DSE, 113 gained against 201 losing issues.

The top five gainers of the week were BANGAS, SAVAREFR, EBL1STMF, Meghna Con-densed Milk and Rahima Food.

The major losing issues of the week were Dutch Bangla Bank, Asian Insurance, 1STPRIMFMF, GSP Finance and Islamic Finance.

The top five turnover leaders were Square Pharma, Ifad Autos, Unique HRL, Olympic and GP.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 172.64 points lower at 18,079.06.
