Demo over revision of quota systems continues

RU Correspondent

Several hundreds of students of Rajshahi University staged a demonstration on the campus over their six-point demand, including revision of the quota system in government jobs. Their demands are -- fixation of 10pc quota instead of existing 56pc, recruiting candidates on merit basis in the vacant posts if enough candidates are not found against quota, cancelling the quota facility more than one job, cancelling special recruitment test for quota candidates and fixing an indifferent age-limit for all in the job field.

Students under the banner of ‘General Students’ formed a human chain in front of the university central library to press home their demands yesterday around 3pm. Islamic Studies masters’ student Masum Monnaf conducted the programme while student of marketing  department Saddam Hossain, student of English department Golam Morshed spoke among others.
