BCL goes on the rampage 
at CU, calls strike

A fraction of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) yesterday vandalised proctor office and called a blockade for undefined period protesting the arrest of their fellow men and demanding resignation of proctor Mohammad Ali Asgar Chowdhury. The BCL leaders and activists also vandalised several vehicles on the campus and locked into a clash with the law enforcers. The BCL men shut down the shuttle train service and bus service for teachers of the university in the morning. At one stage the law enforcers dispersed them with tear gas shells. Two policemen were injured in the incident, said Additional Superintendent of Police (Chittagong, North) Moshiuddohla Reza.

Earlier on Monday, police conducted raids at Shah Jalal and Shah Amanat residential halls and held eight students. Two (LG) pistols and few Ramdas were recovered from both the halls, he said. A fraction of BCL men locked into clashes with rivals over establishing supremacy in the campus on Monday. Mohammad Alamgir Tipu, former president of of the dissolved BCL campus unit, said they are holding an indefinite strike protesting the arrest of their fellow men. Proctor Mohammad Ali Asgar Chowdhury said “BCL men vandalised proctor office, some class rooms and 16 cars. We will take necessary action against them after investigation”.
