Apollo Hospitals Dhaka was slapped with a fine of Tk 5 lakh yesterday in the capital’s Basundhara area with the charges of applying outdated re-agents and preserving unauthorised medicines. In a drive led by Executive Magistrate of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Sarwar Alam found the irregularities by the international hospital chain. Representatives from Health Department, Drug Administration and RAB were present during the drive, conducted from 9am to 3.30pm. The magistrate, after the drive, said the hospital lab had been using some date-expired re-agents for disease diagnosis.

The pharmacy of the hospital also preserved some foreign medicines that are unauthorised by the Drug Administration, said the executive magistrate.
