SSC examinee held over question leak

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained an alleged member of a question paper leak gang from Chittagong’s Biyazid area early yesterday.

Adil Hossain, 16, an SSC examinee from Holy Child School and College in the port city, was detained from his residence in Oxyzen area, said Mimtanur Rahman, Assistant Director of RAB-7.

He said, question paper leak syndicate member Adil used to sell question papers to the examinee using different social media including Facebook in exchange of money.

Woman hacked to death

A housewife was hacked to death allegedly by her husband at Sonatonpunji village in Sylhet on Saturday morning.

The deceased was Jahanara Begum, 19, wife of rickshaw puller Ibrahim Ali, a resident of the same village.

Eyewitness said Ibrahim found his wife talking to his neighbour Siraj Uddin of the same village very closely in the morning. Seeing this, he got angry and hacked his wife randomly with sharp weapon, leaving her injured.

Locals rushed her to Kanaighat Health Complex where the on-duty doctor pronounced her dead.

2 bikers killed in road crash

Two motorcyclists were killed as they fell of their bike while trying to save a pedestrian at Mithachhar Bypass in Chittagong on Saturday afternoon. The deceased were  Zahedul Islam and Farhad Hossain of Saherkhali in the upazila.

Assistant sub-inspector Ekramul Haque of Jorarganj Highway Police outpost said the two motorcyclists died on the spot after they skidded off the bike around 4pm while trying to save the passerby.

Rubayet elected Rotary governor

Rotarian Md Rubayet has been elected governor of Rotary International District 3281 Bangladesh for 2020-21, says a press release.

The election was held at a two-day Rotary conference concluded on Saturday at BICC, Dhaka.

Md Rubayet is renowned businessman and philanthropist. He was the past president of Rotary club of Jahangir Nagar, Dhaka.
