Grameenphone introduces two 4G smartphones

Staff Reporter

Grameenphone has introduced two 4G-enabled smartphones in Bangladesh, which will be available in the market from tomorrow, on the eve of the launch of 4G services, a press statement announced. 4G services would be launched as soon as Grameenphone receives the licence.

The co-branded smartphones were introduced at a ceremony at a city hotel in the capital yesterday (Sunday).

Speaking at the ceremony, Grameenphone’s chief executive officer (CEO) Michael Foley said, “Our 4G journey starts when we have the licence in hand, and so does the journey for many of our valued customers. It is our intention to provide the best 4G experience for our customers on the most affordable handsets. GP strives to give its customers the best experience on the best technology and product.”

Describing the essentiality of 4G services, he said, “4G services can be a game changer for many data users, and for customers to get the best experience on our network, they will need to have the right smartphone in their hands.”

Grameenphone deputy CEO and chief marketing officer (CMO) Yasir Azman said, “In the last two years, we have introduced seven 3G smartphones in four phases, which have made access to 3G data services affordable. We intend to do the same today with our first co-branded 4G smartphones.”

GP subscribers will be able to use fourth generation (4G) data services in some parts of Dhaka within 15 minutes after the telecom giant launches the service tomorrow. “We expect to provide the 4G service by tomorrow afternoon as soon as we get the licence,” said Grameenphone’s deputy general manager PR Md Hasan.

With the introduction of 4G, these phones will perform with full HD video streaming, crystal-clear video calling, super-fast downloading, smooth music streaming and buffer-free

live TV.

WE T1 will be available at all GP exclusive sales points with two colour variants—Cosmic Blue and Jet Black—at a cost of Tk. 4,444. Another smartphone will be available only in Chrome Black colour from all GP

exclusive sales points for

Tk. 7,599.
