Mashrafe Bin Mortaza fell into the web of injury over and over again in his over decade-long career. For it he had to go under knife repeatedly but it never makes any bar on his way to cricket.

Last time he did his operation by Australian veteran sport surgeon Dr David Young in 2011. Thereafter, he had not looked backward and continued his games by doing his injury management.

The team management brought him back in cricket and gave the charge of the team again what he did successfully. He is now the most successful captain of the Tigers because Bangladesh staged a meteoric surge especially in one-day international under his leadership.

Following the success of the one-day cricket, Bangladesh started doing well in the rest of the two formats of games including Test and T20. Now Bangladesh can beat the top-notch Test teams at home and aboard.

The Tigers had defeated England and Australia at home yard alongside Sri Lanka at away turf following the win-like situation in New Zealand.

Mashrafe is poised to return to Test but the board did not agree with Mashrafe as they have concerns if he yet  sustain another injury and missed to continue his job that will be a big blow for them at this moment.

Mashrafe got the second life in cricket for David Young, who  hailed from Australia, came to Bangladesh to attend an orthopedic summit. Last day he held a meeting with the BCB’s doctors and physicians, whereby he spoke about Mashrafe.

Praising Mashrafe, David Young said that he is in favour of Mashrafe’s playing Test as a leader because he is such a leader who could lead the team in right direction.

“Mashrafe is a professional athlete who is totally dedicated to his sport and his country. I’m really pleased to say that my involvement in his career was minimal. He did have injuries which I have helped for a few years ago. He also had some degenerative change in his knees. Because he is such dedicated athlete, rehabilitation and to further his career he has survived amazingly well,” said David Young.

“They come once in a lifetime. What I like most about Mashrafe that he is a really good person and he is really a good hearted person. He is charitable and really cares for his people, cares about his team and as a country Bangladesh should be enormously proud of Mashrafe. He is a great ambassador of sports and his country,” Dr Young told media in the middle of the meeting.

“Every team needs a leader. He’ll always be a leader and there will be always a place for him in the Test team. He doesn’t have to be the best player which other teams got superstars underneath of them. But a team must need a leader and there is no question must speak about this man. I suspect yes is my answer about the question,” he added.
