OIC Tourism Ministers’ confce starts today

Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers (ICTM) will begin in the capital's Pan Pacific Hotel today,aiming to enhance regional cooperation through tourism, reports UNB. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally inaugurate the 3-day conference of February 6, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shahjahan Kamal told reporters at a press briefing at the secretariat yesterday. The Minister said that the ICTM will contribute to creating a unique platform in enhancing tourism among member states, information sharing, experience sharing and formulating long term plan for tourism development.

The conference will focus on development of Islamic tourism, progress in tourism infrastructure projects, OIC tourism fairs and OIC City of Tourism Award (2019 and 2020). Representatives of 25 OIC member states will attend the conference. OIC Secretary-General Yousef Al-Othaimeen will also attend the session.

Tourism ministers and higher officials of the OIC will discuss tourism prospects among the member states and ways to contribute better to the economies of the member states. The conference will end on February 7 through a technical tour.
