Arambagh face tough Jamal in semis today

Sports Reporter

Arambagh Krira Sangha in their bid to play their maiden final in the Walton Independence Cup Football tournament will face a big hurdle when they will take on Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the semifinal today.

The match will take place at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at 4pm.

Arambagh had a tough time almost throughout the recently concluded Saif Power Battery Bangladesh Premier League when they were under huge threat being in the relegation zone up to 18 rounds.

But they made a big upset with defeating  Abahani Limited by an unpredictable 3-0 in the quarterfinal to storm into the semifinal.

However, the way of quarterfinal for Arambagh was also not comfortable journey when they drew both their group leg matches and had to wait for the result of Chittagong Abahani Limited and Saif Sporting Club. And at the cost Saif, who conceded defeat to Ctg Abahani, the Motijheel outfit made their room in the quarterfinal.

Maruful Haq, coach of the Arambagh thinks that Sheikh Jamal are ahead of them in term of strength as he rated Jamal higher than his side.

“Sheikh Jamal are stronger than us, the different between the two sides is 60-40, so boys will have to play with commitments and will have to forget the last match, but will have to repeat the performance of that match.”

Mahbub Hossain Roxy coach of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club said that his players are tired but they will have to recover their regrets of failing to win the league title after losing to Abahani.
