AIUB’s 18th convocation held

The 18th convocation of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) was held on the university campus in the capital yesterday, says a press release. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid presided over the ceremony and conferred the degrees to the graduating students. Professor Abdul Mannan, chairman, University Grants Commission was the special guest. US ambassador to Bangladesh Marcia S Barnicat was also present as convocation speaker. Ishtiaque Abedin, Chairman, AIUB Board of Trustees and the Vice-chancellor AIUB Dr Carmen Z. Lamagna also spoke on the occasion.

A total number of 2674 graduates were conferred degrees for successfully completion of all the academic requirements in various disciplines of the Bachelors and Master’s Degree Programmes of the University.

The medals were awarded in different categories to the meritorious students for their academic programme and other excellence.

Congratulating the graduating students, the minister praised and thanked AIUB for its sincere role to provide quality education and playing a pioneer role to develop the country by producing quality graduates.

The convocation speaker Marcia S. Bernicat presented the speech of convocation. She congratulated the new graduates and said that the education of the university is the education of changing itself.

She advised AIUB;s new graduates to be one of the world citizen in collaboration with the changing world. At the same time she said that the biggest promise of life is "We Shall Overcome". By holding this promise she urged the new graduates to go ahead.

The Vice-chancellor of AIUB Dr Carmen Z. Lamagna congratulated the new graduates on behalf of AIUB for achieving their degrees and performance.
