Shahed, Chhoby start in ‘Uttaradhikar’

Marking

the International Mother Language Day a special tele-drama titled ‘Uttaradhikar’ starring actors — Pijush Bandyopadhyay, Sadek Bachchu, Shahed Sharif Khan and Farzana Chhoby — will be aired tonight on Bangladesh Television (BTV) right after the 8pm news broadcast.

The tele-drama is directed by Himel Ishak, scripted by Ramit Rahman and produced by Kamaluddin Ahmed.

The story of the tele-drama ‘Uttaradhikar’ revolves around Professor Jamil Chowdhury, a freedom fighter of 1971 who writes the true history of the liberation war.  His writing started to make the people opposing the liberation war uncomfortable. Thus, they tried to shut him up in various ways but failed to do so. On last resort, they attacked the freedom fighter’s daughter Esha and gang raped her. The horrific incident made Esha mute and from here a new story begins, where a new generation comes together to launch another war against those heinous people who have done no good to the country.

Farzana Chhoby playing the character of Esha said, “This is my first time playing in a mute character. Playing out through the emotions and body language was not easy for me while giving the performance of Esha. I am hoping that the audience will like my performance.”
