Disability no obstruction but challenge: Palak

STAFF REPORTER

State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak yesterday said disability is not any obstruction anymore, but a challenge so create opportunities for them.

“Physically challenged people just need specialised training and support from person, family and state. With these, they can change the whole world for good and can become exemplary personality. The present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to provide assistance to them,” he said.

The state minister came up with the observations while addressing the inauguration ceremony of a job fair for physically challenged people organised by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) yesterday.

Palak said the present government is working relentlessly to develop the life standard and ensure respectable employment of the physically challenged people.

“We are using the spirit of Digital Bangladesh as a tool to create an inclusive society under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and under the supervision of her ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy. We believe disability is not unbeatable. They too can change the world with a little help,” the state minister added.

The State Minister also discussed a project titled ‘Neurodevelopmental Disorders Management Empowerment of all the persons with disabilities’ which is initiated by the ICT department. He also said the project will be implemented between 2017 and 2020.

Palak said, the e-learning process would be made easier for physically challenged people in near future. Eventually, all the disabled people across the country would be registered into the job portal which will be kept for them.

When an organisation wants to recruit from them, they will choose from their qualifications.

Palak added that government through a project is going to provide specialised training to three thousand physically challenged people in next three years.

A communication app named ‘Kotha Bolte Chai (Want to talk)’ for physically challenged people was inaugurated at the function.
