Pregnant woman killed

by ‘husband’ in Savar

A young man allegedly slaughtered his five-month pregnant wife in Jamsing Solaiman Market area in Savar on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Kalpana Akhter, 22, wife of day-labourer Mohammad Hossain, 30.

Locals said Kalpana was sleeping in the evening when Hossain slit her throat with a knife, killing her on the spot.

Later, Hossain's parents handed him over to police.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Confessing to killing his wife, Hossain claimed that she had an illicit affair with his elder brother, said sub-inspector Azgar Miah of Savar Model Police Station.
