BB-AFI learning programme begins

A five day joint programme began on Monday in the capital for providing a platform for peer learning on practical ways of formulating and implementing infrastructure for Digital Financial Services (DFS) and the role of efficient DFS in the country’s economic growth.

Bangladesh Bank (BB) and the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) have jointly organised the JLP to highlight the experience of Bangladesh in formulating and implementing framework to achieve fast, secure and affordable payment systems for all citizens.

It also highlights the experience of monitoring and overseeing the payment systems.

SK Sur Chowdhury, deputy governor, BB has inaugurated the programme as chief guest yesterday in the capital. Norbert Mumba, deputy executive director, AFI were present as special guest. Md Abdur Rahim, executive director, BB delivered the welcome address.

A total of 32 participants from 23 countries including government high officials, senior executives from commercial banks are expected to attend the opening session.

The objective of the programme was to provide a platform for peer learning on practical ways of formulating and implementing infrastructure for Digital Financial Services (DFS) and the role of efficient DFS in the country’s economic growth.

In the closing ceremony, certificates will be distributed among the participants. SM Moniruzzaman, deputy governor is expected to present as chief guest and Subhankar Saha, executive director of Bangladesh Bank will deliver conclusion speech.
