Our correspondent, Chandpur

A pregnant woman died due to alleged wrong treatment at a clinic in Kachua upazila headquarters of Chandpur district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Salma Begum, 28, wife of Md Jakir Hossain of Kajkamata village in the upazila. Family sources said that Salma was admitted to Modern Hospital in Biswa Road area in the afternoon as she was feeling acute labour pain. Her family members claimed that she fell unconscious as she was pushed an injection following an advice of an on-duty doctor.

Later, doctors declared her dead at 7pm.

Being angered over the death incident, the family members gathered at the clinic and besieged it at night. On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control, said Mahbubur Rahman, OC of Kachua Police Station.
