German professor meets DU VC

Professor of Plant Breeding Institute of the University of Kiel, Germany, Dr Christian Jung yesterday met Dhaka University  (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman at his office. DU Biological Sciences Faculty Dean Prof Dr M Imdadul Hoque was present on the occasion, said a DU press release. During the meeting, they discussed various issues, including the  possibilities of undertaking collaborative academic and research programmes on agriculture, nutrition and food science by the DU and the University of Kiel. Prof Akhtaruzzaman thanked Prof Christian for his visit to Dhaka University and expressing interest in its academic and research activities.

IU 'F' unit admission test results published

KUSHTIA: The results of 'F' unit admission test under Applied Science and Technology Faculty ('F' unit) of Islamic University (IU) was published on Saturday morning.  Unit coordinator Prof Dr M Asaduzzaman handed the result over to university Vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari around 9am. Pro-VC Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha and acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif were present on the occasion.  The admission seekers can view their results from the university website atwww.iu.ac.bd, the unit coordinator said.

Admission test of 7 DU affiliated colleges held

The test for admission into first year honours' classes under Arts and Social Science Unit of seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University (DU) for the academic session 2017-18 was held on Friday. DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman visited an exam hall at Eden Mohila College. A total of 23,704 candidates appeared at the admission test this year against 16,900 seats. The admission test was held at 9 centers -- Eden Mohila College, Dhaka College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardi College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Women College, Government Bangla College in Mirpur ,Government Titumir College, Azimpur Government Girls School & College and Home Economics College.

Workshop on CCNA and Linux Operating System

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) in collaboration with ADN Eduservices Ltd organised a two-day workshop on CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) and Linux Operating System for its graduating students. The workshops were conducted from 10am to 4pm on November 23 and 30 on ULAB Campus B where the Vice-Chancellor of ULAB, Prof HM Jahirul Haque delivered the welcome speech to the participants. The Managing Director, Tapan Kanti Sarkar, Head of Business of ADN Eduservices Ltd, Nurul Alam along with the Head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department, Associate Prof Dr AKM Muzahidul Islam greeted the participants and discussed current industrial demands, affiliation of academia with industry and future of the graduates.

The workshops were conducted by Md Rahat Faysal Pradhan, Senior Technical Instructor and System Admin of ADN Eduservices Ltd and were coordinated by Shahed Khan, Junior Lecturer, ULAB.

Book launching ceremony held

The Department of Management and HRM organised a launching programme of a book titled ‘Understanding Human Resource Management: Cases from Bangladesh’ recently at the Banani Campus Auditorium, says a press release.

The authors of the book are Dr Abu Mohammad Yusuf, a part time faculty and Customs Specialist USAID-BTFA Programme, Abdul Kader Nazmul, Associate Professor, Anisa Sultana, Senior Assistant Professor of AIUB and Lamia Farha, Management Counselor, Bangladesh Institute of Management. The target group and the beneficiaries’ of this book are the students of Management and HRM and the HR Professionals/Practitioners.

The programme started with the welcome and inspirational speech by the Pro Vice Chancellor and the Dean of FBA Prof Dr Charles C Villanueva. Vice Chancellor Dr Carmen Zita Lamagna, Dr Hasanul A, Hasan, Founder, Treasurer and Vice President, Administration and Human Resource, Nadia Anwar, Founder and Vice President Student affairs were present among others. They congratulated the authors for the initiative and advised to continue the journey of creative works.
