A listed criminal was killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Rajaganj under Panchlaish area in Chittagong yesterday. The deceased was identified as Mohim Uddin Prokash Mohim, 36, son of Abul Kashem. Three members of the RAB were also injured. Deputy Director of RAB-7 Lt Commander Ashikur Rahman said, “A patrol team of RAB was staying in the residential area of Chandgaon on the last night. Acting on a tip, a team of elite force went to the spot to nab the gang of criminals. Sensing the presence of law enforcers the cohorts opened fire prompting the patrol team to retaliate, triggering a gunfight. At one stage, Mohim was caught in the line of fire and died while others fled the scene.” “Two foreign pistols, an AK-22 rifle and bullets were recovered from the spot. There are 18 cases against Mohim for murder, robbery and arms. Mohim was an associate of Shibir,” said the RAB official. The dead body was sent to the Chittagong Medical College morgue.
