JS body seeks report on solar panel price hike

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Disaster Management and Relief Ministry yesterday strongly recommended to submit a detailed report containing logical grounds behind increasing prices of solar panels and the activities of Idcol Company, reports BSS. The recommendation was made in the 19th meeting of the committee with its Chairman Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu in the chair, said an official release in the capital.

Committee members Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Talukder Abdul Khaleq, BM Mozammel Haque, Syed Abu Hossain, Momtaz Begum and Happy Boral were present in the meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban.

The meeting also suggested the ministry to take projects for constructing bridges and culverts in 35 flood affected districts on priority basis. The committee hailed UNESCO for recognising the historical March 7 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a world documentary heritage, the release said.

Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Md Shah Kamal, senior officials of the ministry and the Jatiya Sangsad, among others, were also present in the meeting.
