COMILLA: Police recovered the body of a schoolboy on Wednesday, five days after he went missing, from a ditch at Monairkandi village in Homna upazila, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Riad, 12, a sixth grader of Nilkkhi High School of the upazila and son of Siraj Miah of the village. Jahangir Alam, maternal uncle of Riad, said Riad and his family used to live hand to mouth. So Riad started operating a battery-run auto-rickshaw for hire alongside his studies to support his family. Riad was abducted on November 25 (Saturday last), while he set out for work, Jahangir Alam added.

The abductors called Babul Miah, the owner of the easy-bike, with a mobile phone belonging to Riad and demanded Tk 70,000 as ransom.

Following their phone call and demand of ransom the family members informed the matter to Muradnagar Police Station.

Later police arrested three abductors when they along with family members went to the abductors to meet their demand at a banana orchard in Uttarthrish village of Mauradnagar upazila.

Police seized the easy-bike from the spot.

Rasul Ahmed Nizami, officer-in-charge of Homna Police Station said the arrested were identified as Md Shaiful islam, 28, son of Siraj Miah of Shibnagar Box Bepari village of Debidwar upazila, Khabir Hossain, 28, son of Barik Miah of the same

Village and Md Helal, 23, son of Yunus Mia of Uttarthrish village of Mauradnagar upazila.

Later police handed them over to the Homna Police Station.

Jahangir Alam also filed an abduction case with Homna Police station on Monday.
