12 BNP leaders, activists held

Police arrested twelve leaders and activists of BNP allegedly for planning sabotage early yesterday.

The detainees include Benapole Municipality BNP president Nazim Uddin, Jessore Chhatra Dal finance secretary Sumon and union-level BNP president, secretary and treasurer.

Benapole Port Police Station officer-in-charge Apurba Hassan said tipped- off, Sharsha and Benapole police detained the BNP leaders, activists from Sharsha and Benapole areas in the early morning.

A case was filed and the detainees were sent to the court.

BSEHR provides healthcare service, sets up tube-wells for Rohigyas

Bangladesh Society for the Enforcement of Human Rights (BSEHR) so far set up 48 tube-wells at Rohingyas camps in Cox’s Bazar district for supplying arsenic-free drinking water among the Rohingyas who fled to Bangladesh escaping violence of Rakhine State recently, says a press release.

Besides, the medical teams of BSEHR gave health services and distributed medicines to over 12,000 distressed Rohingyas and are continuing their services in the refugee camps. BSEHR also distributed daily commodities like rice, pulses, milk, mosquito nets, children's milk and clothes to over 4,000 families in the camps. They are also continuing setting up more tube-wells in Maynargona area of Balukhali-2 camp in Cox’s Bazar for ensuring pure drinking water for the refugees.

In the Leda Camp BSEHR set up latrines for 1,000 families under ‘The latrines Project’ and more latrines are being set up in the camps. A total of 1,200 bamboos were also distributed among the Rohingyas, says the press release. The BSEHR is also campaigning against human trafficking in the camps.

Under the supervision of Advocate Antara Selima Huda, member of executive committee of BSEHR in the humanitarian response programme to Rohingyas Dr Ln Sanaullah, Project Director Zamal Uddin, Muklesur Rahman Farhadi, Advocate Ershadur Rahman Rito, Mahfuz-Nabi Khokon, Advocate Zamal Uddin, Akbar Khan, Faisal Ahmed, Akila Sham are taking part in the programme.
