Documentary on Abdul Gaffar Choudhury underway

A documentary on the life and works of Abdul Gaffar Choudhury, the noted lyricist of the famous song ‘Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano Ekushey February’ and expatriate journalist, is currently being shot under the title of ‘Ekusher Gitikar’. Documentary filmmaker Masud Karim is the making the documentary and he informed that the shooting of ‘Ekusher Gitikar’ has been taken at the residence of Abdul Gaffar Choudhury in London on October 16.

The documentary would reveal myriad unknown information of the current situation, including Gaffar’s childhood and what was the background to the writing of the universal song ‘Amar Bhaier...’.

The part of the documentary would be shot at the birthplace of Gaffar in Barisal district. In addition, the documentary will include reminiscence and interviews of his friend circle.

Cultural activist Masud Karim has already made two documentaries based on the life and works of noted actor Soumitra Chatterjee and Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman. The premiere show of the documentary ‘Ekusher Gitikar’ is likely to be held in Dhaka on February 21, 2018.
